My Big 4: favourite Podcasts

My big fit podcasts

Lately I’ve become obsessed with Podcasts.

I’m subscribed to so many that my phone rarely has any free space. They’re just perfect if I need a bit of me time; am on a short walk or my daily commute. I simply stick in my headphones and switch on my favourites. And what’s more, they’re totally FREE!

If you’re new to the world of podcasts or are looking for some new ones then I’ve got some crackers for you to get addicted to. And since I’m all about balance, they’re not just fitness focused; there’s some fun & feminism too.

So let’s get started

Ben Coomber Radio

Lets start with every fitness fanatics favourite – Mr Coomber.

Ben is a a performance nutritionist, educator, speaker, and writer who has been in the fitness industry for over 10 years. He’s very passionate about what he does and each week interviews a (generally) likeminded expert, influencer or fanatic from all areas of the health & fitness community. There’s everything from food & fitness to mental health and business.   Plus there’s a huge backlog to listen to so you’ve got enough content to keep you company until the end of 2017 and beyond.

My Dad Wrote a Porno

This. is. hilarious.

The title says it all really. Presenter Jamie gets together with his friends James and Alice to read out his Dad’s retirement project; porno ‘Belinda Blinked’. Belinda is a pots and pans sales woman who, quite literally, shags her way through her working day; getting herself into some compromising situations (and positions!). The writing is funny in itself but it’s the gangs commentary that really makes it. You’ll be hooked within minutes.

But beware of listening in public – you’ll laugh so hard you’ll risk crying, peeing, falling off the treadmill, crashing your car or just looking like a total crazy lady.

The Guilty Feminist

I’ve always considered myself a feminist but have never fully embraced the ‘label’. Growing up there’s always been a stigma attached to being a feminist and people of my era have always been keen to distance themselves from the community. If you can relate then I implore you to listen to this podcast. It’s empowering, inspiring, extremely educational and, most of all, it’s hilarious!

Creator, Deborah Frances White, hosts the show and together with her special guests discuss topical issues that ‘all 21st century feminists agree on’ while confessing their insecurities, hypocrisies and fears that undermine them.

Emma Gannon – Ctrl Alt Delete

This podcast is your guide to being a millennial online.

Emma interviews various women, mainly in the creative industry, about life as freelancers, influencers, writers, actors and/or activists. Alongside her guests Emma touches on some very tough issues such as mental health, race and gender which makes for an interesting 30 minutes. It’s such an inspiring listen with varied interviewees such as writer Daisy Buchanan; actress/writer/producer/director Lena Dunham, influencer Zana Van Dijk and, My Dad Wrote a Porno’s very own, Alice Levine.
